North Korea-Linked Hackers Breach 102 Korean Institutions

The National Investigation Headquarters said it is investigating multiple cases in which a news outlet’s server management firm, pharmaceutical companies, and hospitals were hacked by a state-backed group. Police said the number of affected institutions totals 102 and that some cases are being handled by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. Investigators believe the activity may be tied to a North Korean hacking group because of similarities to Lazarus malware and code used in past attacks. The exact attribution has not yet been conclusively verified, but the campaign is being treated as a recent, active intrusion series.
